Just another day in the U.S. But the comments, oh my god, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry:
ABC works for Obama, it appears. This story sounds quite slanted. He chose pain meds over antibiotics? Both are super cheap! You can get aspirin for practically nothing at CVS, and even without insurance antibiotics are cheap. If this guy could afford the gas to drive to the emergency room, surely he could have made better choices than this! Sad, but not sure we’re getting the whole story here.
ASPIRIN IS CHEAP, GUYS
Raging tooth infection? ASPIRIN. JUST BUY SOME ASPIRIN.
what the actual fuck! aspirin? lmao. that doesn’t do shit. and oh-so-knowledgeable commenters, you don’t know what antibiotic he was prescribed. amoxicillin doesn’t cure everything, you know. many common ones he may have been prescribed could have easily cost him $50. yes, for the generic.
I see people EVERYDAY who don’t get their NEEDED medications because they can’t afford them.
check your privilege and FUCK YOU.
August 29, 2005 - Hurricane Katrina makes landfall in the United States
These are just a few images of more than 3,300 images taken by FEMA in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
I went and helped several times in the aftermath of Katrina, and as with any natural disaster, pictures just cannot adequately convey the destruction.

Everything about that Heritage Foundation report was awful, and every response to it has been amazing.

ICWUDT of the Day: As you may recall, a few weeks ago, three members of Orlando Food Not Bomb were arrested for feeding homeless people in public without the proper permit.
Since then, nearly 30 additional members have been arrested for serving food to the homeless in Lake Eola Park.
Apparently some people are pretty upset about this! One anonymous young man, however, feels the Orlando PD is being unfairly criticized for blindly enforcing a law meant to deter people from helping the needy, and, at a recent FNB food sharing event at Lake Eola, he showed up to show his support for the police with an “I (heart) OPD” sign.
My future husband.
I love this. political satire ftw.
“In my view, the President of the United States of America needs to stand with the American people and say to the Republican leadership that enough is enough. No, we will not balance the budget on the backs of working families, the elderly, the sick, the children, and the poor, who have already sacrificed enough in terms of lost jobs, lost wages, lost homes, and lost pensions. Yes, we will demand that millionaires and billionaires and the largest corporations in America contribute to deficit reduction as a matter of shared sacrifice. Yes, we will reduce unnecessary and wasteful spending at the Pentagon. And, no we will not be blackmailed once again by the Republican leadership in Washington, who are threatening to destroy the full faith and credit of the United States government for the first time in our nation’s history unless they get everything they want.
Instead of yielding to the incessant, extreme Republican demands, as the President did during last December’s tax cut agreement and this year’s spending negotiations, the President has got to get out of the beltway and rally the American people who already believe that deficit reduction must be about shared sacrifice.
It is time for the President to stand with the millions who have lost their jobs, homes, and life savings, instead of the millionaires, who in many cases, have never had it so good.
Unless the American people by the millions tell the President not to yield one inch to Republican demands to destroy Medicare and Medicaid, while continuing to provide tax breaks to the wealthy and the powerful, I am afraid that is exactly what will happen.”
Amazing speech.

1. Andrew Breitbart, who has a clear history of misrepresenting facts to smear progressives, is propagating it.
2. Representative Anthony Weiner, one the few strong progressive voices in Washington, is the target.
What we don’t know is whether it’s true.
If Rep. Weiner actually did send a lewd picture to a young woman over Twitter, well then, that was stupid and he should apologize. If it’s not true, then Andrew Breitbart has once again tricked the D.C. media establishment into paying attention to a ridiculous non-issue instead of the real problems American families are facing.
Oh, how I wish the DC Media covered the corporate ratfucking of America with the same tenacious attention and determination as they do stupid tabloid shit like this.
It’s harder to make childish dick jokes and double-entendres when discussing the future of medicare and the slowing economic recovery.
